Amazing Grace - Monday Ministry

Monday Ministry is about sharing and encouraging one another as we take Sunday into the rest of the week
Too often as the service ends and the closing hymn plays my mind has already turned to who I need to speak to or my plans for the day. Even though I make notes I rarely come back to them.
What if I'm missing what God is trying to speak into my week?
So, whether you go to Church or not if there is a word that speaks to you, a prayer that touches your heart or a hymn or song that makes your Spirit soar; I want to encourage you to join me into bringing Sunday into the rest of your week and letting it minister to you (and others) from Monday.

This Sunday we were visiting another church to attend the dedication of my niece. We sang 'Amazing Grace' which is just the most wonderful song and no matter how often they update it the words are so powerful.

I found Jesus late in my twenties and I was most definitely a lost wretch in need of saving.

The preacher was speaking on his second instalment of the fruits of the Spirit and looking at patience, kindness and goodness. It seems to me that God's amazing grace is so filled with those fruits.

I was an undeserving, sinful and angry young woman and he poured in kindness and goodness and showed patience again and again. In fact he still does!

The second verse says "The Lord has promised good to me". I am amazed that he would promise anything to me, isn't it me that should be making the promises? I'm the one that was saved, don't I owe him? Yet God pours out his love on me continuously and not just a little bit - "like a flood his mercy rains".

Imagine standing in a downpour (for those here in the UK this will not be too difficult!) we become drenched, soaked through - now imagine that rain is God's love and mercy. He wants you to live knowing that you are soaked through with his goodness, no matter the past, no matter how undeserving you feel, his grace and mercy covers you from head to toe - inside and out.

The verse that I take into this week brings together the preachers words and the words of that song. I pray that you will know the truth of this during the coming week.

"Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life..." Psalm 23:6

I would love to hear how God's goodness, love and mercy is touching your life at the moment - take those words or a moment from Sunday and encourage others with your thoughts below.

  1. Oh yes. I too have stopped in my tracks at the words, 'The Lord has promised good to me.' It blows my mind and I try so, so hard to write it again and again in my journal as I worry and find myself anxious and stressed.
    Thank you, Tania.

    1. Helen after writing this I have found this week that God has been confirming this to me through Psalm 103: 4&5 especially - He redeems our life from the pit, crowns us with love & compassion and satisfies our desires with good things - That is an amazing God.
