Light in dark corners

Good Friday - a celebration of death

It sounds wrong somehow and yet along with so many others I turn my heart to heaven and celebrate the death of Jesus.

Maybe you get it but it's not for you - it's a need other people have, your life is fine. That's okay - Jesus died for you whether you accept it or not.

That's all I did - accept it. It's what changed my life - I accepted that I was loved unconditionally, that Jesus died for me undeservedly and I was set free.

Jesus died to shine a light into the dark corners of life. No matter how little your need, how satisfying your life is, we all have dark corners.

"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it" John 1:5

Deep in the recesses and depths of the heart are dark corners where fear, anger, bitterness and loneliness hide. They cower there and feed on the negativity of life, the doubts in our minds and the reflection in the mirror that is never quite right. The darkness comes like a thief to take away the good, destroy the joy and kill our passions.

Jesus died to banish that darkness to shine light into the depths and flood hearts with life. (Tweet this)

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life,
and have it to the full."
John 10:10

I celebrate the death of Jesus for my freedom and for changing a life of searching for something to a life lived to the full. I celebrate being saved, from myself.

Is your life full? I hope so, but if there is doubt or wonder about what life in all it's fullness really means then accept a free gift, not of chocolate but of love.

Are you ready to clear the darkness and let the light in? You can accept Jesus with a simple prayer:

Lord I thank you that even though I don't yet know you, you already died for me.
You gave me life and I don't think it's supposed to feel like this.
Lord, forgive me for all I have done wrong in my life, I want to turn around and change.
I want to feel life the way you have promised, a life lived to the full.
I accept that I can only do that with you in my life and I invite you in to clear the darkness in my life.
Thank you Lord that you hear me, Amen

If you have prayed that prayer or similar words today then tell someone, if you don't have a friend who will understand and help you move forward then please email me.

If you already know Jesus as your saviour then please share this post with others and let's bring the real meaning of Easter to those who need it.
